Information You Submit
Search entries
A name, location, or other term entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party company that operates that tool. Gloucester County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy policy controls its collection and use after a query is submitted.
Messages
If you send an email or use an available contact method, we retain the message and contact details needed to read and answer it. We do not share a message outside the organization unless doing so is required by law or is needed to respond to a valid legal demand.
Information Collected Automatically
Standard technical records may be created when a page loads. They help deliver the site, spot errors, and understand broad usage patterns. Those records can include:
- the visitor’s Internet Protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when one is supplied; and
- dates and timestamps tied to the visit.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support advertising or analytics. Most browsers let users reject or delete cookies. Blocking them can change how some features behave, although ordinary reference content should remain available.
How Information Is Used
Collected information supports routine operation and improvement. It may be used to:
- keep pages available and responsive;
- send a search request to the selected partner;
- measure which topics visitors use;
- detect and correct technical problems; and
- display advertising that may reflect general interests.
We do not use submitted data to create an official Gloucester jail, court, or corrections record. Those records remain with the government body that produced them.
Other Websites and Services
Links may lead to the Gloucester Sheriff, regional jails, Virginia courts, the Department of Corrections, federal locators, release records, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, that destination’s privacy policy and security practices apply. We do not control its collection, retention, or accuracy.
Advertising companies can use their own technologies to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That tracking takes place through their systems. Visitors should review the settings and opt-out choices offered by those companies.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may still be processed or received by:
- search partners that handle a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Each service receives only the data involved in its function, subject to its own systems and agreements.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information under our control. No internet service, transmission method, or storage system is fully secure. We cannot promise that a breach, interception, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information, they may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, a person may ask to:
- receive a copy of personal data we hold about them;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- erase personal information that no longer must be retained; or
- opt out of certain forms of processing where that choice is available.
These choices apply to data held by this private site. Requests about a sheriff, court, corrections agency, or search provider must go to that separate organization.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as technology, vendors, or legal duties change. An updated version takes effect when posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after a revision means acceptance of the updated practices.
